Wagga has been pinpointed alongside Tamworth as potential 100,000 population regional centres by the NSW Government. Vast investments including upgrades to Wagga Base Hospital, a new stadium, road and bridge upgrades are underway. Build and people will come, NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro says.

Wagga Wagga and Tamworth have been pinpointed as the two big regional growth centres in NSW, with a push to turn them into 100,000 population centres.
