THE push to bring the Royal Far West (RFW) bus to Gunnedah has taken its next step, with a fundraising campaign launched by Every Gunnedah Child (EGC).

Kicking off the fundraising campaign earlier this month, EGC aims to raise $25,000 towards bringing the bus to Gunnedah via a Gofundme page.
That sum will be matched by RFW, a charity which helps rural children connect with vital health services.
The RFW bus aims to bring local and travelling health care professionals to Gunnedah to carry out health and development assessments to local kids.
Pushing for the RFW health bus is EGC, who help to ensure local children are prepared to begin going to school.
EGC co-ordinatior Carolyn Leys said the campaign will allow contributors to get creative with their fundraising efforts.
“The beauty of the Gofundme page is that it allows anyone who wants to fundraise to bring the bus to Gunnedah a chance to do it in their own way,” Mrs Leys said.
“People can also donate straight to the cause via the page, so it doesn’t have to be through a fundraiser event which is terrific.”

Mrs Leys said she hoped to have the $25,000 raised by June this year.
“The aim is to get the Royal Far West Bus to visit Gunnedah in September,” she said.
“So in order for that to happen we need to have the $25,000 goal reached by late June and in-turn that means Royal Far West will match the funds and bring the bus to Gunnedah.”
Calls to bring the bus to Gunnedah began with a town hall meeting in November last year and has since continued to gather support.
“We have plenty of people aware of the need for this early child assessment,” Mrs Leys said. “So far we have had monthly meetings to discuss the project of bringing the bus to Gunnedah and have received fantastic support from a variety of community groups.”
Mrs Leys said she felt confident the money will be raised. “We live in such a giving community,” she said.
“I’m confident we can raise the funds to get the bus here as many people are aware recent studies have shown one in five kids aged between three and five-years-old in Gunnedah aern’t ready to start school.”
Mrs Leys encouraged the community to get involved in Every Gunnedah Child’s next meeting on April 19.
