Services came together at The Youthie recently and organisers said the tide had turned with the strategy.
Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service officer Erin Sutherland said it was the first close the gap event she’d be to with a focus on local issues.

“So, instead of taking all of the stats and all the statements and reports that are national, we had guest speakers that actually talked about stuff that’s happening locally, trends that they’re seeing, early-education and behaviors we can implement and encourage our young kids to do,” Miss Sutherland said.
She said TAMS was set to roll out more community-based health screening and education events through out the year.
