It comes days after Mr Joyce volunteered comments to Fairfax Media, saying he was never asked if he was the biological father of his partner’s, Vikki Campion, unborn child and that the issue of paternity is not certain.
Mr Joyce was in Tamworth to launch the final stage of the Appleby Lane upgrade, with state MP Kevin Anderson and mayor Col Murray.
The former deputy PM warned the local press-pack, if their questions were “personal you’re going to get a very short answer”.

“Look, one thing I’m going to say is anything that’s personal in nature is no one else’s business, but mine and Vikki’s,” Mr Joyce said.
“Nobody else’s business.
“We’re not here to be part of some ongoing litany of discussion about this, it’s no one else’s business, it’s personal and that’s last question I’m going to answer.”
Mr Joyce resigned from his role as deputy prime minister and minister for infrastructure and transport one week ago, and he told The Leader he’d still be an effective MP without a seat at the cabinet table.
“Absolutely, it gives me a lot better chance to get around the electorate,” he said.
“In the past, much of my time was doing the deputy prime minister’s job.”
He refused to answer a question on whether he was concerned personal matters were overshadowing his work in the electorate.
