“We just need to win to give ourselves any sort of hope of making the finals,” Norths captain Brendan Rixon said of his side’s two-day match against South Tamworth.
“I think if we win, we’ll sneak into the top four.
“If we put our best foot forward, we’re in the hunt. Otherwise we’ll be having a little schooner on Sunday to drown our sorrows.”
While Rixon said North Tamworth have “a team that’s capable of winning the game”, they’ll be without several players.
Rixon said Peter Watson, Lachlan Butler, Michael Rixon and Kris Halloran would all miss the match which has caused a bit of a headache for Don Lewington.
“Club stalwart Donny Lewington has been pulling his hair out all week. For a man who has a thick set of hair, I think he’s going bald,” Rixon said.
“The big fella’s trying to pull players from everywhere but it’s that time of year and a few people have different things on.
“There’s about four out from first grade this week and at least a team out across all grades.”
The weather could also play a part in the two-day match.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Saturday is predicted to be fine but Sunday’s not so good.
Between 10 and 20 millimetres of rain is predicted for Sunday but it won’t affect Rixon’s game plan.
“Not really, you can’t do anything about the weather,” Rixon said.
