The 14s were too strong for their Gold counterparts in the Tim Grosser Cup final, Jack Hamilton’s 59 providing the foundation as the Blue posted 219. Matt Holmes (4-25) then led the charge as they asserted their authority with the ball, with the Gold 4-16 and then 7-43 before scrambling their way to 86.
The 12s meanwhile set up their Ross Panton Cup triumph over Armidale in the second half of their innings.
The game was evenly poised at lunch with Armidale only three runs in arrears of Tamworth’s total, although they had lost a couple of extra wickets.
But with wickets in hand, Tamworth came out with a renewed intent and on the back of Charlie Walsh’s 53, pushed on to 8-166, and a 90 run lead. That proved too much for the visitors, Blake Scicluna and Charlie Whale both claiming three wickets as they were all out for 119.
