Eleven men’s and five women’s players met with the club committee on Thursday night and voted to shift north.
Walcha president Michael Aspinall said the members at the meeting were eager to enter the Group 19 second division competition for this season.
“Playing Saturday footy was one of the reasons as well as girls and boys playing together on the same day,” he said.
“Travelling was the same either way, Tenterfield, Warialda are the same as travelling to Wee Waa and Narrabri.
“We were worried about numbers and most Group 19 clubs are the same.
“We just want to play park footy and for them to go and have a drink afterwards.”
The Roos are still required to request a release from Group 4 after being accepted at last year’s Annual General Meeting to play there this year.
Aspinall said they have sent their application to Group 4 vice president Ray McCoy for consideration.
Earlier this week, the Group’s secretary Peter Blom said they won’t stand in their way should the Roos decide to depart the competition.
“We won't hold them here, if they decide they want to go to Group 19, they will go to Group 19,” he said.
“If they stay in Group 4 we will try and accommodate them and do whatever we can to help them out.”
In other news to come out of Thursday’s meeting, the Roos have appointed former club president Peter Berry as league tag coach with Robyn Broadbent and Bonnie Brown as assistants.
