Firstly, it will be a Pink Stumps Day match.
Pink Stumps Day provides cricket clubs, businesses, schools and mates the opportunity to turn pink and fundraise for the McGrath Foundation to help place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.
Tamworth Veterans Cricket president Greg Kellett said everyone was welcome to check out the game and also encouraged older players to see what it’s all about and sign up to play if they wanted to.
“We’ll have the zinger bails, a pink stumps kit, pink caps and bandanas,” Kellett said.
“We’re going to have the lionesses cooking a barbecue, and there’ll be drinks available.”
Along with raising money for the McGrath Foundation, the match will also serve as a final hitout for several representative players.
In total, 20 players from Tamworth will play in the over 50s national championships and the over 60s and over 70s State of Origin series’.
The two State of Origin series’ will be held in Coffs Harbour on March 19-20 while the over 50s nationals will run over Easter in Orange.
As far as the Pink Stumps Day match goes, Tamworth Veterans Cricket has received plenty of support already.
Tamex Transport has come on as a sponsor for the pink shirts while Psarakis Accounting, Pro Active Health and RJ O'Halloran & Co Solicitors have also come on board as a sponsor.
Kellett also thanked The Athlete’s Foot for making a donation to the cause.
