On the weekend FC’s Kurt Barrow handed a $4000 cheque, the proceeds of last years big day, to Dan’s mother Lucy and the United in Compassion organisation.
“It really means a lot to both clubs,” Barrow said.
“Dan played his juniors with North Companions and then played his senior football with us, even when he was undergoing chemo, so it is very special.”
This season will be the fourth year that the Dan Haslam Memorial Cup will be held, and Tamworth FC are planning a big one as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of the club’s existence.
“We are hoping to be able to raise a lot more money this year,” Barrow said.
“We are having a big day and night, with plenty of former players returning and events planned for the June long weekend,” Barrow said.
