The Roos are still on the hunt for an under 18’s coach to help mentor and guide the next generation of footballers.
Club president Greg Haire said the club is “working pretty hard” preparing for the 2018 season.
“So far everyone who has come to training has put in and has enjoyed themselves,” Mr Haire said.
“We are pretty keen to find an under 18’s coach though, as we really want to give our younger players some good guidance.”
Mr Haire said the new coach will get a lot of support within the role.
“There are some solid structures in place for a new coach,” he said.
“For one thing we have a great culture around the club at the moment and that is evident by the fact we have about 25 or 26 people on the committee.
“Some of those committee members are some of the clubs younger people, which is allowing us to bring new blood to the committee which is a very positive sign.
“We are really after someone who will not only enjoy themselves as a coach, but also ensure that the players enjoy their football as well and we think the club is in a good position to make that happen.”
The Roos first grade coach Shane Rampling said the under 18’s are currently training with the open age team.
“At this stage the structures for the under 18’s will be the same as first grade because everyone is training together,” he said.
“I think that’s allowed everybody to get so much more out of training.
“Hopefully training together at times through the season will lead the under 18’s to their goals of being in every game and improving every week.”
Rampling highlighted new recruits Kyle Gallen and Tyler Flanagan as players to watch out for in 2018.
“Those guys will make great additions to our team,” he said.
“I know Kyle has a finger injury at the moment so I’m not sure how that will effect him but Tyler is a great pick up for us.
“We have kept most of our core group from last year in tact, a few guys have pulled out for various reasons, so we are on the look out for players across all of our grades.”
Mr Haire said any new member to the club will be most welcome.
“Given the changes to the competition our travel time will nearly be cut in half this year,” Mr Haire said.
“Really this is a great opportunity for anyone who want’s to join a club with great culture and who work hard to stick together.”
Mr Hair said any interested players or coaches can contact him personally on 0428 491 367 or visit the clubs Facebook page.
