Police appeal for help after attempted robbery in Inverell

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant in Inverell on Thursday.

At about 4.45am, two employees were taking the garbage out when they were confronted by a man.

One of the male employees threw a bag of rubbish at the man before running back in to the store and closing the door.

The offender fled the area.

New England police were alerted and have launched an investigation into the incident as they hunt the offender.

The man has been described as Caucasian in appearance, about 170-175cm tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing a dark hooded top, dark pants and a face covering.

Police said he was armed with a knife.
