The sports journalist had his mane speedily put into braids before being sheared off on Thursday at Plush Hair Design.
The chop had been a long time coming for the 27-year-old.
“I’ve been growing my hair for about three years and always thought if I did chop my hair off I’d donate it to charity,” Mr Jaffrey said.
“I found Variety had a program to donate hair to, so, I signed up and started fundraising.”
Mr Jaffrey started his fundraising toward the end of January and has since raised over $1800 for Variety.
“I didn’t know fundraising was a part of it at first but when you sign up, you’re encouraged to raise money,” Mr Jaffrey said.
“I thought if I raised $500 I’d be pretty chuffed but my friends and family have been so generous.
“Massive thanks to everyone who donated. It’s great to see people get around a great cause.”
Anyone wishing to donate to to Variety can do so through Mr Jaffrey’s fundraising page.
