Four teams – Rossbuild, Ray White-Cressbrook Merinos, Sportspower and Um, Yep – will contest the month-long competition, beginning on Friday night at the Sportsground.
The association encouraged the crowd to come along with a Laser Electrical $50 crowd catch on offer, a canteen all night, barbeque, coffee van, music and light-up zinger bails. Armidale Cricket president Mike Porter said it wasn’t only about the teams battling for the trophy at the end of the competition, but an event the whole community can enjoy.
“At the end of the day they all want to win, and that's fair enough, but it's about promoting our game, having fun and creating a bit of interest for the crowd,” he said.
Porter was thankful for the support from businesses around the region.
“It is great to have local businesses come on board to support sport and the community in Armidale,” he said.
“I am very thankful to the sponsors who came on board, we struggled early on with that but it all came together in the end.”
The first game between Sportspower and Rossbuild begins at 5.30pm before the clash between Ray White-Cressbrook Merinos and Um, Yep at 8pm.
