The heritage block will remain, encircled by two-storey modern learning spaces.
NBRS Architecture project lead Andrew Duffin said the central part of the design is the 1920’s heritage building.
“The big idea was to create a building which almost wraps it’s arms around the original building,” he said.
“It creates a beautiful, outdoor auditorium space in between the old building and the new building.
“The fall of the land means we can create some really interesting spaces and have that sense of continuity between the old and new buildings – a joining of history.”
The semi-circle arc provides a trap from harsh conditions.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said the school will be a standard of excellence.
“This design honours the existing architecture, with newly constructed modern facilities to best reflect the new approach to teaching within,” he said.
