Coming off a crushing defeat of West Tamworth in the one-day final at No.1 Oval on Friday night, Middlebrook said batting all day on a difficult wicket was an achievement.
He said: “We set out to bat the whole day and we pretty much did that.
“It wasn’t the easiest wicket to bat on and the bowlers were always a chance. Hopefully the wicket is similar next week.”
Old Boys got off to a promising start, with openers Simon Norvill (31) and Abel Carney (38) giving the side a solid platform, before No.3 Adam Lole top-scored with 71.
But No.4 Jack Richards (four) and No.5 Mitchell Swain (six) failed.
Middlebrook, batting at No.6, made 42 while Troy Sands was 25 not out.
Michael Rixon claimed 4-39 off 11.4 overs for Norths, who are yet to bat.
