Gunnedah musician Al Buchan lights up the 2018 Tamworth Country Music with victory in the golden oldies section of the 2018 Coca-Cola Battle Of The New Stars

AL Buchan recently capped off a successful 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival with a victory in the golden oldies section of the 2018 Coca-Cola Battle Of The New Stars competition.

The Tamworth Town Hall came to life on the final weekend of the festival as aspiring artists of all ages battled it on stage to claim the title of a new star in front of a huge crowd of festival goers.

Turning to classics like ‘Desperado’ by The Eagles Mr Buchan was able to hold his own and take home the prestigious award.

The Gunnedah musician told Fairfax Media his experience at the festival was a “whirlwind”.  

“It was absolutely fantastic, I had a terrific time at the festival,” Mr Buchan said.

“To win was amazing as there was so many talented people there and it’s something I will never forget.”

Mr Buchan will next perform at the Armidale City Bowling Club on February 10, followed by a performance at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club on February 24.
