Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters were quickly on the scene of the blaze off Locks Lane, shortly after 2pm.
A passing highway patrol policeman noticed the smoke coming from the long grass, near the Gipps Street fields, alerting emergency services.
It’s believed the blaze might have been sparked after old furniture was set alight.
