Police on foot, trail bikes, golf buggies, pushbikes, high patrol and undercover officers are backing uniformed officers to patrol festival hot spots, as well as the roads in and out of town
Oxley Acting Superintendent Jeff Budd told The Leader there were no major crime reports in the first few days.
“There has been a few disappointing people who have been too intoxicated however they've been dealt with by the venues and police,” he said.
“There has been minimal incidents in the festival precinct but police have issued infringements for conduct that is unbecoming, like offensive behaviour, failing to leave, intoxicated persons, but majority of festival goers are doing the right thing.”
As the city experiences a heatwave, police are urging festival-goers not to overdo it.
“Do the right thing, don’t drink too much, have plenty of water, and enjoy the festival responsibly,” Acting Superintendent Budd said.
