So it’s only natural that he’ll be in fine form at the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
He’ll be performing two big shows at this year’s event, both with their own unique theme and flavour.
The first is a concert on Saturday, January 20 at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre where Coggan will perform Fire and Rain: The James Taylor Songbook from 2pm.
In a second must-see concert, fans will be able to see Coggan perform at the North Tamworth Bowling Club on Australia Day from 2pm with songs from his new studio album The Wide Horizon.
A masterful storyteller with a knack of weaving fascinating and perceptive tales through his songs, The Wide Horizon encapsulates Coggan at his very best with songs that will truly engage your spirit.
“I have the new album which is gathering some momentum and I decided to focus on that in the lead up to Tamworth,” Coggan said.
“I’ve just started the James Taylor show and the Tamworth show is going to be the first one for 2018, I’m really looking forward to playing that at The Capitol Theatre.”
Coggan will also compere the Toyota Star Maker Grand Final on Sunday, January 21 – a nostalgic moment for the artist who took out the competition in 1996.
In November, Coggan was named a finalist in the Male Artist Of The Year & Traditional Album Of The Year, Golden Guitar categories and said he was overwhelmed to be a finalist.
“I’m so thrilled,” he said.
“It’s been a number of years since I’ve had nominations in the Golden Guitars, so whatever happens from here is a bonus,
“There are so many incredible artists these days, and so many great albums are being released.
“To be recognised means so much to me, I’ve invested heavily, emotionally and financially, in my music and it’s reached an audience and is resonating with them.”
