“I think the big thing is England [one day side] play with a positive mindset and they think they can win games,” Bracken said.
“At the moment the test squad, playing Australia, doesn’t have that same mentality.”
Bracken, who was in Tamworth on Tuesday coaching at the Shaun Brown's Coaching Clinics, drew similarities to England’s ODI players and his own experiences.
“A lot of these guys would have sat home and watched it [The Ashes], seen what happened and now they’re stepping into it,” Bracken said.
“It’s similar to what I used to do. If our boys had a bad series, you’re coming in and thinking let’s change it. Let’s make it a good series for us.”
Bracken has been coaching youngsters since he retired and has travelled across NSW and Victoria teaching the nation’s youth.
Along with Tamworth, a coaching clinic was also held in Armidale.
