The body of Mark Anthony Haines, 17, was found on railway lines near the Warral silos on the outskirts of Tamworth, in January, 1988.
WHAT WE KNOW:
The cold case death was referred to the state’s homicide squad to see if investigators would reopen it in January last year.
Police and the family of Mr Haines will address the media on the 30th anniversary of his death at Tamworth police station at 10am today.
The NSW government announced that a reward to the maximum of $500,000 would be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction.
Mr Haines’ final remains are also expected to be returned to Gomeroi country with a cremation being held by his family today.
