Ingenia Gardens Tamworth has opened its doors to local seniors looking for a free and fun way to engage in community activities, build new friendships, and try new things.

Seniors from across the region are invited to join Ingenia Gardens’ residents for social outings and activities with the launch of its 2018 TOCAN program.
The program travels to the village’s community room to provide social and recreational activities for residents and other members of the community.
Every Monday from 10am to 2pm, TOCAN offers participants a wide range of activities such as bocce, craft groups, cards, board games, mystery bus trips, luncheons or a trip to the cinema or theatre.
“It gives our residents the option of meeting other people,” Ingenia Gardens manager Maree Smith told The Leader.
“We usually have about 15 people, which is a combination of our residents and visitors.
“It’s to get people active, meeting new people and socialising.
“From my point of view, I love it because you hear people laughing, which is really great to see.”
Resident Roy Holt looks forward to TOCAN each week.
“It’s a very good program,” he said.
“It’s run by very good girls.
“I’m very lucky to be a part of it.”
Established in Tamworth in 1990, TOCAN provides social support and recreational activities for the frail-aged, who are living in their homes and adults with a disability. It is run by Challenge Community Services.
Anyone over the age of 55 is welcomed to attend.
