The band is back and so are the blue singlets, bluegrass harmonies and the classic showmanship that they are known and loved for nation-wide.
The Pigs are heading back to their old stomping ground – The Longyard Hotel - for three big shows.
This year, they’re also taking over the Tamworth Capitol Theatre for their take on the Grand Ole Opry, or in this case The Grant Ole Pigry.
Band member T-bone said there was plenty of hype around their shows this year.
“We’re excited as always and in preparation mode at the moment,’ he said.
”We’re doing a couple of different things, our normal shows at The Longyard – our traditional habitat where we go into party mode,” he said.
“And then we’ve got the Grand Ole Pigry, kind of like the Opry but piggier.
“We have a couple of special guests this year, Felicity Urquhart and the magical and musical Mic Conway.”
T-Bone said the Grand Ole Pigry gave the audience a chance to hear The Pigs as they have never heard them before.
“I think people want to have a chance to hear us and listen to our words,” he said.
“It’s sometimes a bit hard to do in that beer barn type of environment.
“It can be a bit hard to do in a room full of screaming people, so this is another way for people to see us.”
This year’s festival will mark 12 years for The Pigs in Tamworth and T-Bone said the band can’t help but keep coming back for more.
“It’s such a unique festival, you’re getting all these different musicians together but also people from all different walks of life coming together in Tamworth,” he said.
“It’s always great to see and we end up seeing a lot of them at our gigs too which is great – we have new fans there every year but also people who come religiously every year.”
He said the band had been working on new material that they were excited to release to the world.
