Three students from Tamworth’s sister-city, Nashville, have arrived in Australia to undertake an internship with Tamworth Regional Council in the lead-up to the city’s 10-day Country Music Festival.

Emily Hollins, 17, Andie Lagrone, 16 and KK Savage, 17, landed in Tamworth last Thursday on exchange from Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Harpeth Hall Winterim program offers senior students the opportunity to undertake experiential learning either within the United States or internationally.

Started in 1973, Tamworth was added to the program four years ago thanks to its sister-city relationship with Nashville..

The students are engaged in a raft of activities leading up to the festival and work closely with council’s events team to put the finishing touches on Tamworth’s biggest event.

“It’s different to our own,” KK said.

“Ours is only four days, and there are some things during the day, but the main concerts are all at night.”

The girls said they’re most looking forward to checking out the buskers.
