Recently a large section of Anzac Park in East Tamworth wilted and browned off, with some sections looking completely barren after a few days in the extreme heat.
We are aware there is a problem with the turf in Anzac Park, and are doing everything we can to resolve it.
- Horticulture manager Murray Russell
It appears that the lawn, below the play equipment and above the footbridge, has been accidentally poisoned or killed off, although TRC refused to be drawn on the exact cause.
However, acting manager of Horticulture and Recreation, Murray Russell, is confident the grass will return to its former state in the near future.
“We are aware there is a problem with the turf in Anzac Park and are doing everything we can to resolve it,” he said
“Unfortunately the current high temperatures are not aiding our efforts.
“While the grass does not look healthy at the moment, the root zone is healthy, and it will recover in the next month or so.”
