She’s back for her Back to Broken Heel show at the Wests’ League Club outback room on Friday, January 26 from 5pm.

The established artist is coming off the back of a big year and has just finished recording her latest album in Sydney.

“It’s definitely more of a singer-songwriter and softer grass roots flavour,” she said.

“There is certainly some jazz influences in there – writing how I write, the occasional jazz cord does slip in there.”

O’Donovan said she wrote most of the songs on the album with a couple of co-writes with her partner Beccy Cole that have a “definite country flavour.”

“Mixed with a bit of my jazz, I think this is going to be a really great album.” she said.

“If it’s ready, I’ll launch it at the festival, because of the Christmas and New Year period, it is hard to pin things down but we’re trying hard to have it ready.

“It’s a really personal album, there are a lot of stories and songs from my childhood and experiences in Broken Hill and a couple of funny ones slipping in there.”

She said festival goers can expect to hear songs from the new album and she’ll also tell the stories behind them.

“It’ll be an intimate and personal show and really fun,” she said.

“Those kind of shows are the ones that I love to perform the most.

“I’m really looking forward to it, It was really awesome and sold out last year and I hope it will be again this year.”
