NSW Fire and Rescue, ambulance and police crews were called to the Cole Road house fire in Coledale about 2pm today.
It’s not yet known what started the fire to the single-storey home.
The Leader understands there was no one home at the time of the fire.
Onlookers were seen milling around the house as two Fire and Rescue NSW trucks responded to the incident. One ambulance and police cars also responded.
The fire has now been extinguished, but crews remain on scene.
More details as they come to hand.
It comes as the Rural Fire Services places Tamworth on very high fire danger notice, with dry conditions, soaring temperatures and afternoon winds making the region susceptible to bush fires.
