The Clubtathlon Challenge is a competition based on a points system across four sports, golf, bowls, pool and darts and is designed to be all inclusive.
Murrurundi native Anthony ‘Ando’ Taylor is spearheading the event and said “there was something for everyone.”
“We do modified versions of everything to keep everyone involved,” Mr Taylor said.
“So if your not the best golfer or whatever, it doesn’t matter as the scoring system and the variety of things we do helps keep everyone in it.”
Mr Taylor said he had been organising similliar events for a number of years with great success.
“We’ve been doing these in various places for a few years,” he said.
“To me it’s about wanting to have a go, get out there and enjoying yourself while playing with your mates.
“We don’t want the day to go to long, or for anyone to be bored so it is designed for everyone to have fun.”
The event will also see a ‘Clubtathlete’ crowned of the year at the event, which will go to the best performer across the disciplines.
“That’s the prize everyone will be going for,” Mr Taylor said.
“The way the points system works means that everyone regardless of skill can have a crack at taking home the ‘Clubtathlete’ of the year award.”
At this stage it is unclear how many entrants the competition will have but Mr Taylor encouraged anyone interested to take part.
“It should be a great day,” he said.
“I’m not too sure how many we will get from out of town, hopefully it’s a few but I would definitely encourage anyone who wants to give it a go to show up on Saturday.”
The event will begin at the Murrurundi Golf Club at 9am on Saturday, before moving to the Murrurundi Bowling Club later in the day.
