A singer-songwriter herself, it's been a big year for Atkins with the release of her new EP Key to My Heart and she's also just finished a university degree in high school music teaching.
She's bringing her most recent music to the Tamworth Country Music Festival along with her new event that she hopes country fans wouldn't want to miss.
Storytellers: Journeys through Song will be held at the Tamworth Golf Club over six days during the festival with each gig featuring three hours of storytelling through music.
The concert will work in a round format with three acts a round to perform and tell the stories behind their music in an hour-long set.
Atkins said she hoped the event would bring emerging artists and established artists together with something they both had in common - their music.
"It's something that I've seen little bits and pieces of at the festival but nothing that everyone is involved in," she said.
"I created it because it is so hard to get opportunities in Tamworth for some of those up-and-coming artists. This is a chance for everyone to have a bit of a go with some of the bigger artists."
Atkins said it was a chance for artists to share their original songs and the emotions or incidents that lead to them writing the track.
"Other people can join in for a bit of a jam, too, if they feel comfortable," she said.
