Middlebrook made the ominous statement before Old Boys’ clash against City United at Riverside 1 on Saturday.
The one-dayer is the final match before the competition goes into recess over Christmas.
Eyeing a fifth straight premiership, Old Boys have four wins and a loss this season and lead second-placed Wests by three points.
Middlebrook expects his side to get better.
He said: “We’re going all right.
“[But] we’ve got a hell of a lot to improve on. We can still get better.
“We’ve just got to push each other to continue to improve.
“But being at the top of the ladder with a game to go before Christmas, you can’t ask for much more at that stage.”
City United head into the match with two wins and three losses this season and sit fifth on the ladder.
In another first-grade match, South Tamworth and North Tamworth meet at Riverside 2 on Saturday.
Souths are coming off a big one-day win over Bective East, while Norths were beaten by Old Boys last round.
