Fire and Rescue crews were on the scene of the fire within minutes on the corner of Lambeth and Taylor streets.
They were backed by firefighters from the Rural Fire Service to attack the blaze which forced the closure of the streets.
The blaze broke out shortly before 2pm on Friday and took hold of the weatherboard house in minutes.
Fire and Rescue NSW Captain Earl Sharman said crews were forced into defensive mode because of the intensity of the blaze and had to fight it from the outside.
“On arrival the house was fully involved in fire, it’s a weatherboard house and iron roof, which very quickly, once ignited, took hold of all areas of the house,” he said.
“Firefighters had to contend with a large volume of flames and smoke.”
The cause of the blaze is being treated as suspicious and it’s understood police are questioning suspects seen near the scene.
