On Thursday members of local council’s and local media went behind the scenes to take a first hand look at some of the work done at the Maules Creek mine.
Hosted by Whitehaven Coal CEO and Managing Director Paul Flynn, visitors took a tour of the mine’s control centre as well as taking in a lookout over the coal pit.
The mine tour was followed by a visit to the site of the proposed Vickery extension project before concluding at Whitehaven Coal’s Gunnedah office for the announcement that Whitehaven Coal will excise a portion of land known as ‘Blue Vale’ from the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for its Vickery Extension Project.
