Staff at Tamworth’s entertainment venues had remained tight lipped on the list of high-profile performances and stars making their way to the city in 2018.
But all was revealed at a special season launch at the Capitol Theatre on Wednesday night, where entertainment fans gathered.
Following on from an entertaining musical overview by Entertainment Venue’s manager Peter Ross, an audience of hundreds was treated to the inside running on what’s on the cards for entertainment next year.
From comedy to Shakespeare, something for the kids and something for the music lovers of all age groups and interests – the comprehensive 2018 program will see both Australian and international acts performing in the city’s entertainment hot spots.
Local talent was also on display with sneak peek special performances on the night from the Tamworth City Dance Academy, Ballet Stars, Tamworth Musical Society and the Tamworth Dramatic Society.
“I'm thrilled with the diverse line up of shows within Season 2018 and to announce that our overarching Season Partner for this diverse and very solid year ahead is Single Builders,” Mr Ross said.
“ The arts play a major part in contributing to the community in a physical way that in turn feeds and strengthens the spirit and social pride within a community.”
34 events, made up from local and national touring productions, are on offer.
Season 2018 includes highlights such as Bosum Buddies starring Todd McKenney and Nancye Hayes, Sydney Writers’ Festival Live & Local, Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow, The Diamonds, Circus Oz – Model Citizens, The 78-Storey Treehouse, Stolen and Romeo & Juliet at the Capitol Theatre, Big Bad Wolf at TRECC and The Events starring well known Australian actor Catherine McClements (Water Rats, Rush, Sisters) at the Tamworth Town Hall.
