Council voted in favour of sending the mayor as Tamworth’s representative on an upcoming “engagement project” drawn up by the Namoi joint organisation of councils.
The $4000 cost of the trip will be stumped-up by the joint organisation.

Cr Murray’s former deputy Russell Webb said there “shouldn’t be any more criticism” about overseas trips from “hereon in” because tapping in to the Chinese market is vitally important.
Tamworth is the “cultural and economic capital of the north” of the state, Cr Webb said, and the North West stood to benefit in a major way from securing Asian investment.
Council endorsed a $20,000 three-man trip to Shanghai in August which resulted in a non-binding MOU with a Chinese renewable energy firm.
The Namoi joint organisation’s Chinese delegation will depart on March 11 next year.
