Scoring a try, taking a wicket, whatever it may be, people tend to remember the first time they did something.
For young Jaxon Kelly, he’ll remember his first outing with the West Tamworth League Fishing Club at the Sport and Recreation ground at Lake Keepit when he caught his first ever fish.
There was a great roll up of anglers at the outing as Jaxon caught a 540-millimetre long catfish which he released back into the dam.
He received a BCF voucher to the value of $50. Other juniors also received fishing tackle to the value of $50.
Making his weekend all the more memorable was Jaxon’s efforts on the touch football field prior to the fishing outing.
Playing in Inverell, Jaxon – who scored four tries – and his team from St Edwards Primary School were runners up at the carnival. WTLFC’s next monthly outing is on Novermber 24-26. Members and new members are welcome. To join go to the fishing club corner at Wests.
