Competing in the 25th Prime Gymnastics International Invitational the 14-strong contingent excelled with Julia Hannaford, Josie Douglas and Georgia Goodwin winning gold overall on their respective levels, and the Level 6 Junior and Level 7 teams also finishing on top of the podium.
The Level 5 Senior team were meanwhile third while Paige Seaton, Maisie Wilde, Annalise Tighe, Abbey McGrath and Ella Constable all won overall individual medals.
Club co-coach Jodie McGinnity said the club aims to do an international trip every two years “just to give the kids experiences and opportunities they mightn’t otherwise get”.
“It was very successful and we were very happy with how they went,” she said.
“Only four of the girls had actually competed overseas before.”
The tournament saw them competing against gymnasts from the home nation, Malaysia, Philippines, New Zealand, Indonesia and Thailand, and while highlights were aplenty it was hard to go past Hannaford in her final competition.
“It was the perfect way to finish for her,” McGinnity said with the three-times NSW rep winning gold on beam, silver on floor and bronze on vault and bars.
Douglas led a Tamworth trifecta on Level 7 winning gold on vault and floor and placing fourth on beam and bars to finish first overall.
Seaton was second with gold on bars, silver on floor and fifth on beam, while Wilde won silver on bars and third on floor to claim the overall bronze. Amber Downes was sixth overall and Lexi May eighth to see the Tamworth team crowned champions by a convincing 9.00 marks. Both were also among the individual medals with Downes winning the vault and May placing third.
For both Wilde and Downes it was their first competition on Level 7.
Led by Goodwin, who dominated the Level 6 Senior competition, the Level 6 team of Goodwin, Annalise Tighe, Tori Monaghan and Sapphire Kuczer also won gold. Goodwin produced an amazing display, winning gold on vault, bars and beam and placing third on floor.
That was another highlight for McGinnity with Goodwin only stepping up to the level this year.
“It had taken her a little while to adjust to her new level this year,” she said.
Tighe was second overall on the Junior level after finishing second on bars, fourth on beam and fifth on vault, while Kuczer won silver on floor and bronze on bars to place ninth overall just behind Monaghan.
The Level 5 girls had got the tournament off to a great start hitting 16 from 16 routines to claim team bronze. Abbey McGrath also picked up silver on vault and bars and fifth on beam to finish second overall, just ahead of Ella Constable who won gold on floor and was placed fifth on vault.
Kelsey Dietrich was sixth overall and secured a silver medal on the floor, while competing on Level 5 Junior Sophie Weekes was first on floor and eighth overall.
