Blake Small returns to captain the side for a third season and once again is looking forward to the competition which Gunnedah historically uses to blood junior players.
“I love playing cricket and it’s a good way to help the junior players as well,” Small said.
“Last year we made the semi-finals and lost in the last over to Tamworth. We’re trying to build off that and get a few young fellas in the team.”
Two of those young fellas are Small’s Court House teammate Issac Harris and Albion’s Hayden Baker.
Small believed the pair had bright futures.
“They’re both all-rounders and we’re trying to ease them into it [representative cricket] before moving into the first 11,” Small said.
“These two could be there [in the War Veterans Cup side] this year.”
