Northern Inland Football has secured over $145,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Asian Cup Legacy Fund to improve the soccer facilities in Tamworth.
The association will see the installation of lights and an extension of irrigation at the fields.
The state government contributed a total of $145,875.
As part of the application, Northern Inland Football sought a dollar for dollar co-contribution from Tamworth Regional Council which they agreed to.
Northern Inland Football president Tim Coates said it was fantastic to see an investment that will allow more people to participate in the sport for training purposes at night and also allow evening competitions across many of the fields.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson was just as pleased to see the funds come Tamworth’s way to upgrade the playing fields on Gipps Street.
“Players, referees, coaches and administrators of all ages and abilities are set to benefit from the fund which will magnify the social, health, educational and cultural benefits our game brings to society,” Anderson said.
