For old dogs Peter Brasel and David Doherty this was their fourth dash after signing up for the inaugural run, while Wayne Greenwood and Neil Albert enjoyed their second and third run respectively, with Cameron Colless and Garry Littlejohns taking their maiden voyages.
The crew raised an amazing $18,136 for Variety, and for Mr Doherty that is “sensational”, as the postie gang dropped into schools and organisations along the way to distribute some of the funds, including Attunga Public.
“Often you donate and don’t see where it goes, but with the Dash you get to see where it goes – you get to see the smiles on kids faces – that is gold,” he said.
The round loop went from Newcastle to Inverell and back, mostly on back roads and dirt, while the dirty dogs favourite leg was zigzagging down the range from Inverell to Attunga via Kingstown and Warrabah National Park.
