NIAS is a not-for-profit community based organisation that enables the region’s pre-elite athletes and coaches to access services, equivalent to that of their metropolitan counterparts.
Since its establishment in 1992, the Academy has provided almost 4,200 scholarships to the region’s emerging young athletes, and supported more than 400 regional coaches and volunteers to develop their potential on and off the sporting field.
The strength of NIAS is perhaps its simplicity, in that, it aims to give aspirational young athletes opportunities to thrive and grow through elite sporting experiences and pathways.
It is without doubt one of the most respected entities in the Northern Inland Region of NSW with connections that carry weight far and wide.
We work closely with families from a broad cross section of backgrounds within the region as we believe all aspirational young athletes are entitled to dream and then pursue their passion.
Any profits generated from our events are used to directly benefit our Academy athletes.
Beginning in Armidale, with the support of our community, we’ve grown our Academy to now support nearly 300 Academy athletes aged between 12-18, across 12 sporting programs, who undergo a combined total of 700 hours of technical development through high quality coaching resources – as well as a combined total of 230 hours of educational development on an annual basis.
To recognise this significant milestone the NIAS4Life Foundation is hosting its second Sports Luncheon this year in Armidale on Friday, November 17 at Armidale City and Bowling Club, Dumaresq Street, Armidale from 12.15pm.
We are thrilled to have the support of Stephen Hoiles (former Wallaby) and Wallaby Greats who will be joining us as our guest speakers for the afternoon.
We would love to welcome those who have been part of NIAS over the years to the event. If you are able to join us please call the NIAS Office or 02 6766 2526 or emailing pip.benham@nias.org.au by Friday November 10.
