Dusty, a four-year-old kelpie, will be Ms April in the calendar, produced by Australian pipe fittings manufacturer Philmac.
Dusty’s mum Belinda submitted a photo of her dog at the agility dog national grand prix in Tamworth in September/October.
She will be in the 2018 Philmac Australian Working Dog Calendar.
“She was from a breeder in Tingha, and her parents were working stock,” Belinda said.
“Her work is agility – that’s her job and her love.
“She’s been competing since she was 18 months old – that’s the earliest they can compete, but she’s quite clever.
“She has four titles in the Excellent Class; there’s novice, excellent and masters.
“She’s only four, so actually has been competing for a shorter time than a lot of dogs with less titles.”
Belinda said agility was Dusty’s “favourite thing in the world”.
“She knows the clothes that I wear when we go to training, knows the difference between them and my work clothes Monday to Friday.
“She knows in the back of the car when we arrive at the grounds and gets very excited …
“We train our dogs through play: it’s all fun, it’s all a game to her, so it’s her favourite thing.
“When we go to competition, though, she’s very serious, she actually has a very different demeanour.”
The calendar will be printed this month, with 30,000 copies available from Philmac distributors.
