Cricket: North West desperately unlucky to finish last at PSSA girls cricket championship

Despite a valiant effort against tough teams, the North West girls cricket team finished in last place at the NSW PSSA championship at Maitland this week – unbelievably losing by a run in four matches.

The four-day competition finished on Thursday.

North West lost by a run to Riverina (day one), South Coast (day two) and Sydney East and Hunter (day three). In North West’s other matches, they lost by three runs to CIS (day two) and 101 runs to Sydney North (day four).

"The girls played very well,” North West manager Kelly Archibald said.

Sophie Parsons, of Armidale’s Ben Venue Public School, was named North West’s most valuable player.
