Federation Park on Jewry St has been out of action for a number of years and at Tuesday’s meeting, councillors will vote on a proposal to rezone the land for industry and business.
The move is being seen as extension for the Taminda industrial area.
“The subject land is considered to have significant potential for redevelopment to accommodate the growing business and industrial needs of the city,” a report to be considered by Tamworth Regional Councillors said.
The rezoning proposal will allow for industrial and bulky goods developments.
Council will need approval from the NSW Minister for Planning to change its Local Environment Plan to allow for the rezone.
Should the move get the nod, it is anticipated to go on public exhibition by December or early in the new year.
