Residents at the RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village have been making the most of the warmer weather to get out and tend their beautiful gardens.
And while they do it for love, there’s also an underlying current of competition as part of their annual garden festival.
According to Self Care Unit coordinator Stephanie Bellanto, the main objective of the RFBI Spring Garden Festival is to generate a happy community-engagement project that creates a kaleidoscope of colour around the village, and in the process provides a fun, physical outdoor activity for our older community residents.
“The social atmosphere with a focus on light-hearted competition has become an annual highlight in the village and beyond,” she said.
Special guest at this year’s awards event was Tamworth Region Deputy Mayor Helen Tickle, who announced the winners and presented a number of certificates on the day.
This year’s festival may be over, but it’s safe to say that the residents are already looking towards next year’s event, when green thumbs will be put to the test once again.
