The Northern Daily Leader announced Wests would bring a game to Tamworth last week and today with the release of the 2018 NRL draw, it has been confirmed the Newcastle Knights will take on Wests in that match.
When the news was first announced, Wests Tigers said the move was designed to “support and grow the game outside of its traditional base” and Tamworth Mayor Col Murray described the development as a “great opportunity for our community and rugby league fans from across the region to share in the excitement of an NRL round”.
The round seven match will start at 5.30pm on Saturday, April 21 at Scully Park.
