Nationally, the replacement value of unpaid care is $1.1 billion per week.
The event provided the opportunity for Carers to get together and to share their experiences. At the 2016 census, 12.3 per cent of Shire residents, approximately 770 people, identified themselves as carers.
The Shire’s Carers provide many hours of care and support every week to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail.
As well as the High Tea, Carers were presented with a small memento in recognition of their contribution.
