That was the heartfelt message, that came complete with a box of chocolates and a drawing, when Natasha and David Rose dropped in on the South Tamworth Ambulance station to thank two paramedics who saved the life of their son Theo.

When Theo Rose started convulsing and having seizures, parents Natasha and David Rose did the exact right thing and called an ambulance, despite already being in a doctors surgery.

Theo was getting a check-up for an upcoming tonsillectomy when the febrile seizure struck, and while the condition generally sorts itself out by the time the ambulance arrives, that was not the case this time, and luckily for the Roses, the officers knew just what to do.

“We gave him one intramuscular injection of an anti-convulsant but it didn’t work, so we gave him a second that settled him down a bit, and then another i the ambulance on our way to the hospital where they stabilised him,” Mr Powell said.

All told the toddler was convulsing for over an hour and 15 minutes, although after a “scary and nervous” overnight stay the family were sent home with a clean bill of health, except for the tonsils.

“It is always nice to see patients doing well and even nicer to have a really happy outcome like this,” Mr Powell said.

“That is why we do the job.”
