While Maddi Smith-Hall, Charlie Hazlewood and Aston Jeffrey have done the lions share, a group of ten students have folded and strung together the infamous paper cranes, which will soon be shipped to the Children’s Peace Monument in Hiroshima.
Japanese teacher Katelyn Porter said the paper cranes are a great exercise in world history and the campaign for a world without nuclear weapons, as well as a great class activity, which the school has been doing for many years, although for chief origamist Charlie, the allure is simple.
“It is an easy way to pass the time and you can just relax and lose yourself in them if you’re having a bad day or something like that,” he said.
