The Northern Safety Network’s Regional Safety Expo is being held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC) from 10am.
Almost 40 exhibitors will be on hand to provide information and advice.
It’s the first event of its kind to be held in the region, with the Safety Network aiming to improve safety across the community.
“We encourage everyone to come out and have a look,” chairperson Tony Dean said.
“It’s an inaugural event and we want to grow it in the future.
“There will be local businesses and businesses from out of Tamworth.
“So if there is anything they want to know in particular or they want to see down the track they can let us know at the event,” he said.
The day will also include a series of safety demonstrations, on things like working at heights and fire safety techniques.
There’ll also be information and advice on hearing protection, personal protective equipment (PPE) and drug and alcohol testing.
SafeWork NSW and icare will provide legislative and practical advice on work health and safety matters.
Guest speakers will include Paralympian, Nigel Smith, who lost his left leg following an industrial accident and went on to represent Australia in volleyball.
Emergency services, including the Rural Fire Service, will also provide demonstrations and advice on bush fire safety, with a barbecue lunch thanks to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service.
