Another almost 40mls overnight on Wednesday to follow 30mls over Sunday/Monday left too much moisture on the wickets.
As well as the second round of the first and second grade competitions, the wash out also affected the opening fixture of the revamped Twenty20 competition, which was to see Old Boys taking on Bective East on Friday night.
Tamworth District Cricket Association president Ben Middlebrook said they pulled the pin on that on Friday morning, recognising that “it was very doubtful” that it was going to happen.
“We were hopeful we could get some grade wickets up but it wasn’t to be,” Middlebrook said.
Not all grade games have been cancelled with third grade and fourth grade going ahead.
